The resection range is designed by analyzing the skeletal shape

the protruding mandibular angle is resected to reduce lower-face width
and soften the side profile
When the mandibular angle protrudes and the line under the jaw looks heavy,
a resection range extending long from the mandibular angle to the chin is set
to refine the flow of the lower contour in balance
The outer cortical bone is trimmed as much as possible
to slim the face width seen from the front
Unnecessarily protruding masticatory muscles are refined
to maximize the effect of the contour line
Fat in the deep soft tissue layer is removed

The areas and extent of surgery needed may vary depending on each person's face shape and bone structure.
Cheek sagging does not necessarily occur, but it can be affected by skin elasticity, soft tissue thickness and the extent of resection.
That's why a surgical plan that considers not just bone reduction but also the supporting structures of skin, fat and muscle is important.
Major swelling usually subsides gradually over 1–2 weeks, and the time to return to daily life varies by individual.
It may take several months for residual swelling to subside and the lines to settle naturally.
It is important to fully check nerve position, asymmetry, occlusion, skin elasticity and more, and to avoid excessive resection.
After surgery, recovery care such as compression, oral hygiene, diet control and abstaining from alcohol and smoking must also be followed.
